A cleaner start in Xero

Clean up your accounts as you move to Xero.

Swift can help combine, rename or renumber accounts and add tracking as part of the move, so the new Xero organization starts with a structure that fits how you work now.

Discuss the structure you want

Bring forward what still makes sense.

The goal is to agree what should carry forward, what can be simplified, and what useful detail should still be preserved in the new Xero organization.

Simplify the chart of accounts

Old charts of accounts often collect duplicate, outdated or overly detailed accounts over time. During the conversion, selected accounts can be combined, renamed or renumbered while preserving useful distinctions where needed.

Add tracking where it helps

Tracking can sometimes be created from reliable information already present in the source, such as departments, locations, source account codes or other useful distinctions. This can preserve information from old accounts even when those accounts are combined or retired in the new structure.

Agree the new structure before the move

You decide what should be combined, renamed, renumbered or tracked before the conversion is finalized, so the move is built around the structure you have agreed.

You may not have to wait for all of the old history. In some projects, the agreed accounts, contacts and starting information can be set up first so current work can begin while older history is still being prepared.

Show Swift the old chart of accounts and the structure you want in Xero.

If the current chart of accounts no longer fits, the conversion can be planned around the agreed new structure instead of simply copying the old one.
